Two D-LIS systems

A content site or a shop? Choose what you need

D-LIS comes as two systems on one foundation: D-LIS Light for managing your site’s content and D-LIS Shop for running an online shop.

Content management

D-LIS Light

A system for building and running websites. You manage the content, look, messages and security of the whole site from one panel in your browser.

  • Pages and blog – sections, blocks, questions and answers,
  • Forms and newsletter – visitor messages in the panel,
  • SEO, translations and backups – no extra plugins,
  • Free, on your own server – your data stays with you.

Online shop

D-LIS Shop

An online shop built on D-LIS: products, basket and orders, with a blog and newsletter alongside. The example shop is live – you can browse it just like a customer.

  • Basket and customer account – prices including VAT,
  • Categories, search and product comparison,
  • Promotions – struck-through prices and discount codes,
  • Returns and complaints – customer forms.

General information

D-LIS Light at a glance

A Polish system for building and running websites. You install it on your own server, and you manage the whole site – its text, its look, its messages and its security – from a single panel in the browser.

A company website should not need a dozen plugins from different authors to have a form, a newsletter, backups and decent SEO. Instead of an empty core and a catalogue of add-ons you get the full set: every module has its place in the panel, and they all use the same settings, the same look and the same permissions – which is why nothing falls out with anything else after an update.

„Light” is a promise of lightness – the site loads only what it needs, the panel does not bury you in options, and every setting has one place that is easy to find.

How it works

From an empty server to a working site — step by step

You do not have to know Python or Django. A wizard runs the installation, and everything that happens afterwards you do in the panel.

  1. The installation wizard checks the server and the database and creates an account Installation wizard Server and Python Database Owner account

    Step 1

    Installation

You upload the files and open the site address. The wizard checks the server, sets up the database — SQLite, MySQL or PostgreSQL — and the owner account. On Linux and FreeBSD a single command does the same: install.sh.

In the browser or from the console

  2. Site settings: switches, sliders and colours changed in the panel Maintenance mode Text size Leading colour

    Step 2

    Settings

The name, logo, colours, typefaces, company details, mail, SEO. Everything is saved in the database and set from the panel — with no digging through files on the server.

In the panel: System › Configuration

  3. Writing content with every version saved now

    Step 3

    Content

Pages, posts, home page sections, forms and questions. Every save leaves a version behind, and publication can be scheduled and the draft previewed before visitors see it.

    In the panel: Content

  4. Looking after the site: security checks, backups and updates ZIP 1.29.0

    Step 4

    Care

Backups, the event log, file checking and news about new versions. The dashboard says outright what needs doing — and where.

Features

Everything a website needs — in one panel

Every one of these things is part of the system, not an add-on by another author. It has one place in the panel menu and is updated along with the rest.

Pages, blog and a home page built from sections

Pages with subpages wired into the menu, a blog with categories, authors and comments, and a home page assembled from sections whose order you set. You schedule publication “from — to”, and every change stays in the history and can be restored.

You upload a photo once, and the system scales it down, strips the EXIF data and prepares WebP and AVIF versions for every screen width. SVG files are sanitised on upload.

Forms and the newsletter

Backups, the log and updates

You make an archive with the database and the files in one click and restore it the same way. The log records sign-ins, errors and changes, file checking catches swapped files, and the panel checks for a new version by itself.

Appearance and navigation

Colours and typefaces set separately for the light and the dark version, a menu with a highlighted button in the header and templates uploaded as a ZIP package. Plus your own CSS, notices for visitors with an end date and a site search.

And five more areas that are rarely talked about, yet a company site does not work without them: content blocks and questions, mail with message templates, company details and the footer, analytics with consents, and the panel itself — the dashboard, the settings search and the lists.

Is it worth it?

Honestly: for many sites yes. For some — no.

No system is good for everything. Here is when D-LIS Light works best, and when you are better off choosing something else.

The scales tip towards “yes” YES NO

The verdict in one sentence

If your site is above all about content — it is worth it. If it is meant to sell through a basket — choose a shop built on D-LIS.

Yes, if…

  • you run a company, service, organisation or blog site and want everything in one panel,
  • you want to keep the data with you: your own server, your own database, a backup in one click,
  • you do not want to keep up with updates to dozens of plugins from different authors,
  • a light, fast site without a heavy theme matters to you,
  • you need a panel in Polish whose messages tell you what to do.
Sounds right? Download it free

Probably not, if…

  • you need an online shop — D-LIS Light has no basket, no products and no payments (for selling there are shops built on D-LIS),
  • you want to choose from thousands of ready themes and add-ons — here the set is closed,
  • you have no server and nobody to prepare one — this is not a “click and you are done” cloud service,
  • you are building a portal with accounts for visitors, a forum or a large application.
